LOMVC teamed up with ladies choir Cantare to perform a winter themed concert with more than a hint of Christmas to raise funds for homeless charity HARP. The venue was the performing arts theatre in King John School Thundersley. This spacious hall provided tiered seating for the audience but had a disappointing acoustic for singing without microphones.
The concert was opened with Leigh Orpheus singing a set of of 5 numbers commencing with "Llanfair" and including three love songs and "A Winters Tale".
Guest soloist Ewan Dunlop sang "Heaven's Light" from the musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame accompanied by his mother Elisabeth.
Then Cantare delivered a set of 6 songs including "The Snow" and "The Snow Begins to Fall". The choirs then joined together to sing "Rhythm of Life" which always goes well with two choirs and a four handed accompaniment.
After an interval HARP CEO Vanessa Hemmings talked about the level of homelessness in the local area and described HARP's work to help victims.
Cantare then resumed with 6 very Christmassy songs and carols concluding with "Driving Home for Christmas".
Ewan then returned to the stage with another solo "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".
This was followed by LOMVC with a very Christmas themed set of carols and the rather manic and wintery "Sleigh Bells".
Finally the choirs reunited on stage for a second joint item "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" which gave the audience the chance to participate.
Together with the collection in the shopping centre his concert raised £500 for HARP.
