On 20th July the LOMVC were scheduled to be singing at the bandstand in Priory Park starting at 3pm.
As late as 2pm it looked as though the Choir would be singing in the rain (not a song in their repertoire!). Miraculously by 3pm the rain had ceased, the clouds had cleared, the sun was shining and an audience had appeared to enjoy the afternoon's entertainment.
The choir performed a set either side of the interval interspersed with some solo performances.
The first set started with familiar items: "Anthem", "You Raise Me Up", "Love Shine a Light" and "Unchained Melody".
Ian Leonard then sang a solo folk song. This was followed with a medley of 6 songs from "Les Misérables" including solos from Liszi, Harry Rowson and Ralph Faulkes.
The interval gave the Choir the opportunity to join the audience in the sun for drinks and ice creams.
The first set after the interval was varied comprising "African Prayer", "Yesterday", "Wellerman" and "Another One Bites the Dust". For the last piece the audience enjoyed joining in for the chorus.
Next Dave Smith and Ian Leonard sang an Everly Brothers song. The Choir then sang the lengthy but well received "Back to the Sixties" medley.
Musical director Janet Smith and accompanist Kay Duell performed a piano duet while the Choir recovered their breath.
Two songs concluded the afternoon's entertainment "An American Trilogy" and "Gwahoddiad".
An appreciative audience left having enjoyed an afternoon in the sun.
