What a fantastic outdoor concert by the Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir with a sizeable audience in the beautiful surroundings of the Bandstand in Priory Park, Southend on 19th July 2026.
The programme offered a wonderful variety of music, opening with Let the River Run and moving through favourites such as Some Enchanted Evening, You Raise Me Up, The Water of Tyne, Anthem and Crossing the Bar. The Gospel Medley and Back to the 60s brought plenty of energy and variety to the first half.
The second half continued with a brilliant mix of songs, including Wellerman, audience participation during Drunken Sailor, followed by Song of the Jolly Roger, Love Shine a Light, Unchained Melody, Rhythm of Life, The Rose and Wade in the Water.
The combination of powerful male voices, solo and duet performances, audience participation and such a varied programme made for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The choir created a wonderful atmosphere, and it was lovely to see live music being enjoyed by the community in such a beautiful park setting.
A memorable performance from the Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir — a fantastic afternoon of music, singing and picnicing in the sunshine.
