Performing for the Silver Service Club

January 2026. The choir performed a 45 minute set for the entertainment of the Silver Service Club at the Salvation Army Temple in Hadleigh.

There was a near capacity audience for this afternoon concert. The performance opened with two sacred numbers, "Llanfair" and "Angels Watching Over Me". These were followed by "Anthem" from the musical Chess.

The Choir took a rest whilst Musical Director Janet Walker and Accompanist Kay Duell played a piano duet version of "Brahms Lullaby".

The Choir then continued with "Unchained Melody" made famous by the Righteous Brothers, "A Winters Tale" which is forever associated with David Essex, and then upped the tempo with Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".

Ralph Faulks delighted the audience with his solo rendition of "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables, this was sung with great feeling.

Continuing the Les Miserables theme the Choir sang "At the End of The Day". The theme then changed to the sea with the whaling song "Wellerman" in which the audience were encouraged to join in the chorus. Still at sea, this was followed by "The Song of the Jolly Roger" which caused amusement as the Choir members donned various pirate accessories.

The audience were given another chance to participate in "Gospel Medley" where "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" and "When the Saints go Marching In" are combined.

The concert concluded with more audience participation in "Glory to Thee my God this Night".

The audience were appreciative throughout and the Choir enjoyed another opportunity to sing in the Temple.
