He Built this City was a memorial concert staged at The Cliffs Pavilion in Westcliff in February 2022 to commemorate the life of the late Southend West MP and LOMVC president Sir David Amess.
The concert attracted a large audience and a broad range of professional and amateur musicians. The Choir sang the Welsh hymn "Gwahoddiad" (a favorite of Sir David's) and the more light hearted "Song of the Jolly Roger". For the latter number the choir donned various elements of pirate attire to the delight of the audience.
