The Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir performed a traditional Christmas concert to a full house at Hadleigh in Essex. The programme was as follows:
The concert followed the sequence of the events surrounding Christ's Nativity through a series of readings and carols.
The concert opened with the Choir and audience joining in the singing of "Once in Royal David's City". This was followed by a reading, and then the Choir performed the first of four sets of carols sung in four part harmony.
This set was followed by Jim Ryan's solo rendition of "The Wexford Carol".
The concert continued either side of the interval with this mix of readings, communal singing and choir performances.
Following the Choir singing "Glory to the my God", towards the end of the second half, the concert moved on from its religious theme with a Ron Circus solo performance of "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas". This light-hearted mood then continued with the Choir and audience combining to sing "Jingle Bells", "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town".
